Ukrainian forces maintain footholds on Dnipro, active in Krynky area
The Armed Forces continue to complete combat tasks on the left bank of the Dnipro and in the Krynky area, said Dmytro Lykhoviy, a spokesman for the Tavria operational and strategic grouping of troops, in an interview with Radio Svoboda on July 26.
According to Ukrainian Armed Forces spokesperson Lykhoviy, Ukrainian troops are carrying out combat missions near the village of Krynky and on the nearby islands. He reported that Ukrainian positions in Krynky were completely destroyed by intense enemy shelling and air strikes.
"The village itself is completely destroyed," Lykhoviy said. "There is no possibility to hold the defense there, no possibility to cling to any fortifications, and therefore Ukrainian defenders are now on other designated positions and footholds, as well as on the left bank of the Dnipro."
He added that in the operational area of the Tavria troop grouping, the Prydniprovia direction is the most intense. Enemy attacks occur in this area daily.
"Russian attempts to advance to our footholds continue, but they remain unsuccessful," Lykhoviy said.
Situation in Krynky area
The stronghold near Krynky has been holding since at least the fall of 2023.
Ukrainian forces officially announced on Nov. 17, 2023, that they had established positions on several bridgeheads on the occupied left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson Oblast.
The former Russian defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, falsely claimed in February that Krynky on the left bank had been “cleansed.”
Russian troops are striving to dislodge Ukrainian forces from the stronghold, but 60-70% of the Russian assault groups do not return after the attacks, Southern Defense Forces said in March statements.
Liga.net on July 16 reported, citing a source in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, that Ukrainian soldiers had to retreat from the village of Krynky.
