Ukrainian forces reclaim Vovchansk, Starytsia; Russians advance near Siversk, Toretsk

Ukrainian forces recently regained lost ground in Vovchansk and the neighboring village of Starytsia in Kharkiv Oblast, while Russian troops have advanced near Siversk and Toretsk in Donetsk Oblast, according to a report by the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War released on June 24.
Ukrainian forces recently regained some tactical positions northeast of Kharkiv due to counterattacks. Geolocated footage from June 24 shows Ukrainian troops firing small arms at Russian forces in the northeastern part of Vovchansk, indicating that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have regained some positions along Khliboroba Street, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Additional footage from June 24 shows Ukrainian forces regaining positions in the center of Starytsia village (southwest of Vovchansk). Despite this, Russians continue to attack near Vovchansk and within the town itself, with positional fighting ongoing near the village of Hlyboke.
In the Toretsk sector, Russian invasion forces advanced as their attacks continued. Geolocated footage from June 24 shows recent Russian advances near Druzhba village (northeast of Toretsk). The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Russian troops also conducted assaults near the neighboring villages of Pivnichne, Pivdenne, and New York, which are close to Toretsk.
Evidence of Russian advances was also noted in the Siversk sector. Footage from June 23 showed units of the Russian 119th Airborne Regiment (106th Guards Airborne VDV Division) installing a Russian flag in the southeast of Rozdolivka village (south of Siversk). Fighting continued east of Siversk near Verkhniokamianske, northeast of Siversk near Bilohorivka, and south of Siversk near Rozdolivka and Vyyimka on June 24.
