Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers faces significant reshuffle

MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said he received information about the possible dismissal of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal "from many colleagues who are in the decision-making center, which is quite limited and obviously not located in the Ukrainian Parliament," during an interview with Radio NV on July 4.
He noted that he was the first to publish information about the possible replacement of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, which was later verified and confirmed by Ukrainska Pravda.
Zheleznyak also recalled that Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk said, "the personnel issue regarding the Cabinet of Ministers will be resolved in the coming week."
"I say the personnel issue regarding the Cabinet of Ministers, not another wording – it means the appointment of new ministers," the MP said.
Additionally, Zheleznyak mentioned that a plenary session of the Ukrainian Parliament was scheduled for next week, according to the agenda sent in advance to MPs, many of whom were planning business trips and constituency work.
"And suddenly, this schedule was moved forward by a week," the MP added.
"The official reason given is the NATO summit in Washington. I don't want to disappoint my fellow MPs, but they will not be attending, and it has nothing to do with the work of the parliament."
He suggested the real reason is the planned radical changes to the Cabinet of Ministers, necessitating preliminary interviews.
"Obviously, not in the parliament or the government, but in the President's Office," Zheleznyak explained.
"Secondly, the President and the head of the Office should be in the Ukrainian parliament at this time, at least to nominate or re-nominate the Minister of Defense, and the same applies to the Minister of Foreign Affairs."
He also noted that he did not claim that the Cabinet of Ministers would be changed, considering such a change "a rather illogical step," but added, "it is not the first time that colleagues from the government have done something illogical."
Intentions of changing the composition of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers
Ukrainska Pravda reported on July 3 that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is allegedly "tired" of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and is likely planning to fire him. Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Naftogaz CEO Oleksiy Chernyshev are being considered for the post.
MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced on July 1 that the Ukrainian Parliament postponed its plenary sessions for one week, presumably due to personnel changes in the government.
Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk said on June 29 that the Parliament would soon address personnel issues regarding the Cabinet of Ministers.
"I am convinced that in the near future, Parliament will return to personnel issues," Stefanchuk said.
"Our task is to fill the government. The government must work professionally, and there must be people who are responsible for their areas."
