President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Azerbaijan’s
Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during the latter’s visit to Kyiv, Zelenskyy said
in a Telegram post on Aug. 6.
Zelenskyy noted that Bayramov’s visit is his first since the 2022 Russian invasion. Bayramov began the trip in Irpin (Kyiv Oblast), where he visited a school, a hospital, and a rehabilitation center supported by Azerbaijan.
Zelenskyy told Bayramov about Russia’s ongoing missile strikes across Ukraine and the situation in the Black Sea, where Moscow continues to effectively blockade Ukrainian ports.
“We discussed high-level diplomatic contacts, defense cooperation and economic ties in energy, the oil and gas sector, and agriculture,” the president said.
“I am grateful to Azerbaijan for its support of Ukraine, its energy and humanitarian assistance, and for the constructive dialogue.”
Earlier the same day, Bayramov said Azerbaijan is prepared
to supply natural gas to Ukraine if needed and to expand cooperation on energy
security, including use of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities.
