Zelenskyy changes structure of Headquarters of Supreme Commander-in-Chief

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on Aug. 16 to change the structure of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
The relevant decree has been published on the president’s website.
The agency will include the first deputy head and acting head of the SBU security service, Vasyl Malyuk, the commander of the Territorial Defense Forces, Ihor Tantsiura, the commander of the Special Operations Forces, Viktor Khorenko, and the commander of the National Guard, Yuriy Lebed.
At the same time, Zelenskyy removed their predecessors from the headquarters, namely Ivan Bakanov, Yuriy Halushkin and Hryhoriy Halahan.
Zelenskyy removed SBU head Ivan Bakanov and prosecutor general Iryna Venediktova from their duties on July 17, with parliament confirming their dismissal on July 19. The president said that he made the decision due to a large number of criminal proceedings on treason and collaboration among law enforcement officers.
Oleksiy Symonenko, one of Venediktova’s deputies, will serve as Acting Prosecutor General of Ukraine. The duties of the head of the SBU will be temporarily performed by the first deputy head of the department, Vasyl Malyuk.
Earlier Zelenskyy said the staff of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief during the meeting on Aug. 15 had discussed the military and strategic situation, providing the military with weapons and ammunition, as well as the status of implementation of the previous decisions.
