Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met
with Canadian
PM Justin Trudeau in Ottawa, engaging in bilateral talks covering a range
of issues, Zelenskyy’s office said in a Telegram post on Sept. 22.
The president thanked Trudeau for his support since the onset of the war with Russia, for welcoming Ukrainians refugees, and for Canada’s military, financial, and humanitarian assistance.
During this visit, Zelenskyy is expected to discuss Ukraine's defense needs, the continuation of financial and humanitarian support for Ukraine, and the expansion of economic and investment cooperation opportunities. Zelensky and Trudeau will also host a joint press conference.
Prior to this, the president and Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska met with the Governor General of Canada, Mary Simon, and her husband, Whit Fraser.
Before arriving in Canada, Zelenskyy had been on a three-day visit to the United States, where he addressed the UN General Assembly and Security Council in New York and held a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden in the White House.
