Zelenskyy mets with Macron, France to provide dozens of armoured vehicles and light tanks to Ukraine

France will donate in the coming weeks dozens of armoured vehicles and light tanks, including the wheeled AMX-10RC used by the French army until 2021, French newspaper Le Figaro wrote on May 14.
France will also provide aid in air defence and training for Ukrainian military pilots and tank crews.
The presidents of Ukraine and France, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron, also agreed to impose new sanctions on Russia.
"Ukraine and France agree on the need to increase collective pressure on Russia through further sanctions to weaken Russia’s ability to continue its illegal war of aggression," Zelenskyy's press office said in a statement.
Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Macron for his leadership and also expressed expectations that "France would support the principled joint decision of the allies to form a ‘coalition of fighter jets,’ which Ukraine has been looking forward to for a long time."
French support of Ukraine in its accession to the European Union and NATO was also discussed during the meeting.
Ukraine is expecting specific steps in this regard at the upcoming 2023 NATO summit in Vilnius on July 11-12, the Ukrainian president said.
Zelenskyy arrived in Paris on working visit in the evening of May 14, and met with Macron. Earlier in the day he was in Germany, meeting the country’s president and chancellor.
"Paris. With each visit, Ukraine's defence and offensive capabilities are expanding. The ties with Europe are getting stronger, and the pressure on Russia is growing. I will have a meeting with my friend Emanuel and we will talk through the most important points of bilateral relations," Zelenskyy said in a post on Twitter.
