Fire Point releases footage of unidentified Ukrainian launch

Fire Point chief designer and co-owner Denys Shtilerman has released footage showing the launch of an unidentified Ukrainian missile.
“Beauty,” Shtilerman captioned the video posted on social media on Monday, July 20.
Fire Point has increased production of its Flamingo cruise missile to an average of three units per day, or about 90 per month, in the year since unveiling the weapon, The Atlantic previously reported.
Ukraine’s FP-9 ballistic missile: What is known
A model of Ukraine’s FP-9 ballistic missile was publicly displayed for the first time at an exhibition in Rzeszów, Poland, in April 2026.
The missile has a stated range of 855 kilometers, or about 531 miles, and carries an 800-kilogram, or roughly 1,764-pound, warhead, Defense Express reported.
The FP-9 is about 9.5 meters, or 31 feet, long and has a maximum diameter of 1.1 meters, or 3.6 feet. It is therefore larger than Russia’s 9M723 ballistic missile used by the Iskander system, which measures 7.2 meters long and 0.95 meters in diameter.
Shtilerman said on May 25 that Ukraine could begin intercepting Russian ballistic missiles by the end of the year using a cheaper domestically produced alternative to the Patriot air defense system, provided the development process succeeds.
Ukraine could soon strike Moscow with domestically produced FP-9 ballistic missiles, Shtilerman said in June.
“We have everything for the ‘nine,’ the FP-9 missile capable of reaching Moscow, except the engine,” Shtilerman said. “We will test the engine this month and expect to begin test flights shortly.”
“Once a test flight demonstrates that everything is working properly, the next flight should be conducted toward Moscow,” he added.
Shtilerman expected the first FP-9 strike on Moscow to take place “in the summer or, at the latest, in early fall.”
Fire Point has also completed development of its own turbojet engine for the Flamingo cruise missile, Shtilerman said on July 9.
“Most importantly, we are developing our own engine for the Flamingo. We have already developed it, and we are now assembling the first 10 test units,” he said. “We will then gradually transition to our own engine.”
“Without waiting for codification or funding, we are already using our profits to build several production facilities that will manufacture FP-9 missiles,” Shtilerman added.
