Russian drones strike Kyiv, causing injuries and widespread damage
Early on Nov. 2, Russian forces launched a drone attack on Kyiv, triggering fires and debris fallout across six districts of the city, according to Kyiv's Military Administration.
9:55 a.m. Update – Kyiv’s Military Administration detailed the aftermath across various districts:
- Solomianskyi District: Several residential buildings suffered window damage, with five cars reported damaged.
- Sviatoshyn District: A fire broke out on the 15th and 16th floors of a 16-story residential building, leading to the evacuation of 18 residents. A police officer was injured while assisting, suffering from smoke inhalation.
- Holosiivskyi District: Windows in several apartments of a 22-story building were partially damaged.
- Dnipro District: Localized fires broke out on several balconies of residential buildings.
- Shevchenkivskyi District: A small fire erupted between the third and fourth floors of an unoccupied high-rise building.
- Pecherskyi District: A balcony in an 8-story residential building was damaged.
9:17 a.m. – The drone assault caused debris to fall across six districts: Solomianskyi, Sviatoshyn, Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Pecherskyi, and Dnipro. One injury has been confirmed, and all fires have been extinguished, according to the Kyiv Military Administration.
9:15 a.m. – In Sviatoshyn, a police officer was injured by smoke inhalation while aiding residents in an affected building, reported the National Police.
9:10 a.m. – Following a second wave of drone strikes, debris fell on a multi-story office building in Shevchenkivskyi District, causing another fire.
7:56 a.m. – Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed two injuries in Sviatoshyn, with one person hospitalized.
7:49 a.m. – A fire in Dnipro District, initially thought to be caused by the attack, was later attributed to a household issue, according to Klitschko.
Earlier updates – Just after 7:27 a.m., debris also fell in Dnipro District, causing a balcony fire on one floor of a 9-story residential building.
This latest Russian drone assault targeted Kyiv’s Solomianskyi District, impacting residential areas and damaging windows in several buildings. Firefighting and evacuation efforts were conducted swiftly.
A significant fire broke out on the upper floors of a 16-story building in Sviatoshyn, prompting evacuations and efforts to contain the blaze. According to Mayor Klitschko, one resident was treated on-site for injuries sustained from falling debris.
