Ukraine confirms destruction of Russian MiG-29 in Rostov Oblast

According to updated information, the Ukrainian military also confirmed the destruction of a Ka-27 helicopter, which was struck on Aug. 30 near the Yeysk airfield in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.

On Sept. 1 and overnight into Sept. 2, units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces also struck a number of other military targets.

In Volodymyrivka in Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian forces hit an enemy ammunition depot. In Ocheretyne, also in Donetsk Oblast, they struck a logistics supply depot used by Russian invasion forces.

In Rechitsa in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast, Ukrainian forces hit an area where enemy weapons and military equipment were concentrated.

The extent of the damage is still being clarified, the General Staff said, adding that operations against key Russian military targets are continuing.

The MiG-29 is a multirole Soviet fourth-generation fighter aircraft. It is designed to engage and destroy all types of aerial targets using guided missiles and an onboard cannon, and to strike ground targets using unguided weapons. It can reach speeds of up to 2,450 kilometers per hour and has a combat radius of 700 kilometers.
