Ukrainian powerlifter with cerebral palsy sets world record - video

The 25-year-old from Mykolaiv became the first competitor in his category to successfully lift 105 kg in the deadlift. Video of Polovych successful attempt has already racked up thousands of likes on social media.

He shared a heartfelt message of gratitude in an Instagram post.

“This story would have been impossible without you," he wrote.

"I want to thank everyone who wrote to me, believed in me, and supported me emotionally. Your energy was felt even from afar! I especially want to thank my coaches — Anna Kurkurina and Tetiana Fuzi — who walked this path shoulder to shoulder with me! And huge thanks to everyone who helped finance the trip. Without you I simply wouldn’t have stood on that platform. This victory is yours as much as it is mine! We did it together!”
