Elon Musk compares nuclear apocalypse with possible NATO membership for Ukraine

U.S. tech billionaire Elon Musk has compared possible NATO membership for Ukraine with a nuclear apocalypse movie, in a post on Twitter on April 5.
"This is literally how the nuclear apocalypse movie starts," Musk wrote in a comment to a post containing a clip of a statement by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Musk’s comment linked to a remake of the 1983 film The Day After, showcasing the effects of a nuclear strike.
"Ukraine will become a member of NATO," Blinken said at a joint briefing with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, on April 4, following a Ukraine-NATO Council meeting.
Ukraine’s NATO accession will be discussed at a July 9 NATO summit in Washington, DC, Blinken had commented earlier.
Musk's statements about the war in Ukraine
Musk is no stranger to scandalous pronouncements about Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In Oct. 2023, the tech oligarch proposed that Ukraine cede its occupied territories to Russia – ostensibly to prevent World War 3.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin would "not for any reason" lose the war against Ukraine, Musk told U.S. Republican senators on Feb. 13.
Musk again made a scandalous statement about Ukraine's war with Russia on Feb. 20.
“Thousands of boys have died for nothing and Ukraine’s position grows weaker by the day,” he wrote on Twitter, following up the statement on March 3 with a comment expressing incredulity that the NATO alliance still exists.
By late March, Musk opined that Ukraine would lose Odesa and the territories up to the Dnipro River.
