Russia increases FPV drone activity in Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts
Russia has intensified its use of FPV drones and attack UAVs in the border areas of Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts, the spokesman for the Siversk operational and tactical troop grouping, Vadym Misnyk, said on national television on Aug. 5.
The situation in the border area remains tense but fully under control. Russian forces continue to shell border settlements in Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts daily, utilizing their entire arsenal of weapons, including artillery of various calibers.
"Recently, we have seen an increase in the enemy's use of FPV drones and strike drones," Mysnyk stated.
In recent days, the enemy has been shelling the border with unguided aerial rockets, but on Aug. 5, Russia also employed guided aerial bombs.
The primary objective of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups is intelligence gathering, but they also carry out sabotage tasks.
"Special forces are operating opposite Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts. We are using all means of anti-sabotage groups," the spokesman noted.
