SBU rescues residents from flooded Russian-occupied bank of Dnipro – video

Ukraine’s SBU security service in a video posted on Facebook on June 17 showed the evacuation of residents from the Russian-occupied part of Kherson Oblast, which was flooded after a Russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam.
The residents of Kherson Oblast were rescued by the Special Operations Center A, together with their colleagues from the Armed Forces, State Emergency Service, State Security Service, and other security and defense forces, the SBU said.
Ukrainian soldiers also delivered food and medicine to flood victims using drones.
The SBU reported that Russian forces fired on one of the special forces groups that was evacuating civilians. But the enemy’s position, which was set up on the roof of a residential building, was immediately destroyed by an artillery strike.
"Every day, we move forward for the sake of those who are waiting for liberation!" the SBU statement reads.
“And we are doing everything to make the yellow and blue flag of Victory fly over every Ukrainian city again.”
During the night of June 6, Russian forces, which have occupied the town of Nova Kakhovka for over a year, blew up the hydroelectric station dam, completely or partially flooding downstream cities and towns along the Dnipro River, including the regional capital of Kherson.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called Russia’s attack on the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant the largest man-made environmental disaster in Europe in decades.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as of June 14, more than 3,000 people have reported flooded homes to law enforcement.
A total of 3,761 people have been evacuated from Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts.
