China actively seeking solution to war, Ukrainian FM says
China is not looking for "temporary solutions" to the issue of peace in Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in an interview with Ukrainian channel TSN on July 25.
He made this statement following productive negotiations with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Guangzhou.
The first and most important point regarding the negotiations is that China respects Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity, Kuleba said.
China's position on establishing a stable and just peace in Ukraine is the second important diplomatic moment.
"I spoke about the importance of just peace, not just peace at any cost. My Chinese colleague himself added that it is fair and lasting," he said.
"This makes crucial point, because usually we are the ones who keep saying that the peace must be sustainable — lasting and just. We received a clear signal that China is not looking for any temporary solutions, temporary cease-fires, but is working on a sustainable, strategic solution to the problem of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine."
Kuleba came to China at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on July 23.
China confirmed to Kuleba that they will not supply weapons to Russia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on July 24.
