Video shows elderly Ukrainian woman disabling Russian fiber-optic waiting drone by hand

Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov, an adviser to the president on defense technology development, posted a video on Facebook on Sept. 15 showing an elderly Ukrainian woman apparently neutralizing a Russian “waiting” drone by hand after removing its fiber-optic spool. The footage quickly went viral.
“As far as I understand, the old lady completed some kind of course from Victory Drones,” Flash wrote.
In the video, the woman is seen picking up a Russian drone from the ground while it was in standby mode and removing the spool of fiber-optic cable from it. In doing so, she appears to disable the drone on the spot.
At the same time, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service has repeatedly warned that after Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine became one of the most mine-contaminated countries in the world, with more than 30% of its territory potentially dangerous because of explosive hazards.
Emergency officials stress that explosions caused by mines and other explosive objects kill and injure people every day, including children.
Rescuers also emphasize that under no circumstances should people touch unknown objects.
